Geraldo Rivera came to Matt Lauer’s defense on Twitter: "News is a flirty business"

Geraldo Rivera sent out multiple tweets in which he defended the recently fired Today Show anchor Matt Lauer.

Lauer was terminated from NBC News earlier Wednesday over "inappropriate sexual behavior." Variety published a bombshell report in which several women accused Lauer of sexual harassment at NBC.

In his tweets, Geraldo expresses his sadness over Lauer's termination saying, "Sad about @MLauer great guy, highly skilled & empathetic w guests & a real gentleman to my family & me. News is a flirty business & it seems like current epidemic of #SexHarrassmentAllegations may be criminalizing courtship & conflating it w predation."

At one point , Geraldo discusses a step-by-step approach that he believes companies should adhere to when dealing with sexual harassment claims in the work place.

He states that no allegation past 5-years should be entertained and “some victims are motivated by more than justice.”
