Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars lead the 2018 Grammy nominations

The nominations for the 60th Grammy Awards are out and if your money was on Ed Sheeran's "Divide" or his song, "Shape of You," to be hanging out in most of the major categories, that money's gone.

Sheeran, a fan favorite - and, typically, a Recording Academy one as well - will surprisingly sit out the Album, Song and Record of the Year categories this year.

Many critics' predictions had Sheeran's "Shape of You" coming full circle to the Grammy stage as he debuted that massively popular track live during last year's broadcast.

What a year it's been, meanwhile, for Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino.

The multi-talented artist took home a bunch of Emmys this year for his FX series, "Atlanta," and it looks like they may soon have some company on his mantle.

Glover's album, "Awaken, My Love!," was just nominated for the Album of the Year Grammy alongside Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars and Lorde. The standout track from that album, "Redbone," is also up for Song of the Year.

After complete radio ubiquity, a record-breaking 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and over 4.4 billion YouTube views,
“Despacito” solidly landed in both the Song and Record of the Year categories, a rare feat for a foreign-language record.

A win, however, for the history making Luis Fonsi/Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber track would be one of those famous Grammy success stories, especially given the fact “Despacito” just won both Song and Record of the Year at the Latin Grammys back on Nov. 16.
