On Friday evening, President Trump tweeted that TIME magazine called him and said that he was “probably” going to be named 'Person of the Year'--but the President claims he passed on the honor.
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 24, 2017
Time replied that the President was incorrect on their process of how they choose Person of The Year.
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.— TIME (@TIME) November 25, 2017
President Trump was named Person of the Year in 2016 and he is a candidate on the public poll that is currently open.
Twitter though was not to kind to the President’s really random and bizarre tweet.
Former editor for TIME magazine Richard Stengel set the record straight with Trump, letting him know that he most likely isn’t POTY.
And who can forget the (fake) TIME Person of the Year covers that currently are hanging in some of his golf clubs in Florida.
One twitter user was able to document that Trump has a deep seeded obsession with the Person of the Year honor.
TIME’s Person of the Year will be revealed on Dec. 6.
