A soldier who recently defected from North Korea to its southern neighbor enjoys American movies and television, according to Yonhap.
Yonhap on Wednesday reported that the defector – who has been identified only by his surname Oh – has voiced admiration for U.S. entertainment following his escape.
“We showed him a cable TV movie channel, and he said he likes the American drama 'CSI' and American films,” said Lee Cook-jong, who is Oh’s surgeon, Wednesday at Ajou University Hospital in Suwon, South Korea.
Lee added that Oh told him that he also used to drive after watching "The Transporter," an American action movie starring actor Jason Statham.
“We usually tell him he has to do this or that in South Korea, but we don’t ask about his time in North Korea,” he said. “That’s because it’s bad for the patient to think about it.”
Dramatic video emerged Wednesday of Oh’s daring escape from North Korea into South Korea last week.
