USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who treated and abused Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and McKayla Maroney, among others, has pleaded guilty to seven charges of sexual assault and faces at least 25 years in prison.
Nassar was accused of molesting several girls while working for USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University and is being sued by more than 125 women and girls.
Nassar was charged with molesting girls at his home and a campus clinic. All but one of the victims was a gymnast. Some of his accusers attended the hearing and could be seen crying.
Today's hearing for the sexual abuse charges took place in Michigan’s Ingham County, but Nassar is charged with similar crimes in Eaton County and is awaiting sentencing in federal court on child pornography charges.
During his hearing Nassar said he is "horribly sorry" and that he "prays for forgiveness every day."
Nassar's sentencing is set for Jan. 12, and his plea deal calls for a minimum prison sentence of 25 years. The judge could raise the minimum sentence to 40 years.
