After 25 years, the Georgia Dome said goodbye with Monday's implosion

For the past 25 years some of the biggest sports events in the world have happened at Atlanta's Georgia Dome. It is the only facility in the world to host a Super Bowl, an Olympics and an NCAA Final Four. But the Georgia Dome will be only a memory after its scheduled implosion on Monday.

The Atlanta Falcons said goodbye to the dome last season and hello to a brand new state-of-the-art facility called Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

There have been more than 1,400 events in the 25 years of the Georgia Dome, and millions of fans have graced its seats.

The site of the Georgia Dome will become a multi-purpose greenspace called The Home Depot Backyard, opening in 2018.
