VR 360: Aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico



Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico as a Category 4 hurricane on September 20, 2017. At it's peak intensity, Maria had maximum sustained winds of 175 mph. Fifty-five people were killed by the hurricane in Puerto Rico and damage from the hurricane was estimated by Governor Ricardo Rossello to be $90 billion. Many houses were destroyed and the flooding in San Juan was actually waist high in certain areas. The power grid on the island was destroyed and all 3.4 million residents of Puerto Rico were left without electricity.
