When it comes to incredibly drumming, you don’t need to go any farther than Ellington Ratliff, the drummer for the fantastic band R5, who has come down to CircaPop Live to promote his new EP — New Addictions. He’s there, with his cool rock star swagger, doing his cool rock star looks, and like— look. Ellington Ratliff is famous for a reason. But when did he first know he was famous. When did he first realize “my goodness, quite a few people know who I am and what my deal is”? Well, our Circa Pop Live hosts — Ryan Mitchell and Shira Lazar — ask him just that!

The first time Ellington felt famous, he says, was when he played the OC Fair for the third time with his band, and actual fans showed up. Actual people who didn’t come there just to watch music but to watch them. He’s then asked about his first celebrity crush, and Ellington names Jennifer Lawrence which is like— it’s a good one! But makes me feel old! Jennifer Lawrence came up when I was in college! Yeesh! And then the first lie Ellington remembers pretending to read the Victoria’s Secret Catalog out of purely an intellectual interest.
