In 1962 the TWA Flight Center opened at JFK airport and it was ahead of its time. The place was declared a New York City Landmark in 1994 and in 2005 the terminal was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was created by architect Eero Saarinen and was closed in 2001, but now there are plans to reopen it in 2019 as a hotel.
