BOGOTA, Colombia (CIRCA) — We've been doing hot chocolate all wrong.
The Colombians have it down, and after this, you'll probably be doing the same thing. Chocolate con queso—hot chocolate with cheese—is the ultimate Colombian comfort drink. It's exactly as it sounds. It's what they drink when they're at grandma's house, and nearly every Colombian will recall this fondly if you bring it up with them.
So many people told us we had to try it, so we stopped in a tiny little eatery in Bogotá called La Puerta Falsa, a neighborhood joint that's been in operation since 1816. But it's so common you can find it in many places.
Check out the video above to see what the cheese and flavor combination is like. Trust us on this one, it's a beloved Colombian classic for a reason.
You'll never view sweet/salty the same way again.
