A 9-year-old cancer patient celebrating his 'last Christmas' early asked for cards

Jacob Thompson is nine-years-old and was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma in Feb. 2014, according to McClatchy News.

Neuroblastoma is the most common form of childhood cancer.

A GoFundMe page established to raise money for his funeral says that he was "admitted to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital for the last time."

As Thompson's cancer spread throughout his head and the pain in his body continued to remain the same, doctors warned his parents to spend as much time with him as possible. They also told his parents to start making arrangements for his funeral.

Due to Thompson's health, his family has decided to celebrate the holidays a little sooner.

Thompson's stepmother Tara Artinyan says in a Facebook message, "Jacob would love to get some early Christmas cards."

Now, there is a chance for you to help during this difficult time. The family is asking anyone to send Christmas cards to the following address:

Jacob Thompson

C/O Maine Medical Center

22 Bramhall Street

Portland, ME 04102

The family will use the cards to decorate Thompson's room walls before their Christmas celebration next weekend.

Thompson's family is also collecting donations for funeral arrangements on GoFundMe.
