Two brothers have been arrested and are being held without bond after a video surfaced on social media of them yelling anti-Semitic comments at a man, according to the police department in Damascus, Virginia.
Joseph Killian, 33, and Henry Oscar Killian II, 35, were both charged with disorderly conduct. The charges were a result of the “totality of the exchange, including the anti-Semitic comments and expletives which they yelled at the person who filmed the encounter,” said Damascus Police Chief Mike Hounshell. Court documents identify the videotaper as Craig Johnston.
“We don’t tolerate that behavior in the streets,” Hounshell said.
Joseph Killian was also charged with assault and battery for apparently striking Johnston or his phone.
According to Hounshell, Johnston was hiking through the area and met up with the Killians to purchase marijuana. However, no drugs were exchanged.
Damascus Mayor Jack McCrady posted a statement on his Facebook page.

As expected, the backlash has been swift, people have descended on all parts of the internet to try to shut down the restaurant and their hate speech.
People have gone to all parts of the internet to share their displeasure with the restaurant owners. It has been brutal on their Yelp page, as it has received about 173 one star reviews in one day.
Hey Joe's' Facebook page, which seems to not have been updated since 2014, is also getting hammered with backlash.
Even the Appalachian Trail Conservancy has posted a message on Instagram denouncing the anti-Semitic attack.
We recently became aware of an incident in Damascus, Virginia regarding anti-Semitic behavior by a local business toward a hiker. We join the town of Damascus in strongly condemning such hateful actions. The ATC and its community partners work hard to create a welcoming and open place for all visitors. This type of behavior has no place on the #AppalachianTrail, in its surrounding communities, or within our country.
