The 2017 edition of the 17th Street High Heel Race kicks off late Tuesday in Washington, D.C.'s Dupont Circle neighborhood, according to our affiliate WJLA.

WJLA on Monday reported that the annual event starts at 17th and R Streets NW this year before running down to JR's Bar & Grill nearby.

"The High Heel Race is one of Washington, D.C.'s most enjoyable and colorful events, now going into its 31st year," a description for the competition said on the Capital Pride Alliance's website.

"Join thousands of spectators in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of 17th St. and P St. NW, to watch hundreds of costumed drag queens show off their extravagant outfits and race down 17th Street."
