Shortly after the death of its founder, Playboy Magazine made history with the introduction of its first transgender playmate, Ines Rau. Ines Rau is a French born model who originally posed in the Italian edition of Vogue and now is changing the way Playboy’s mainstream audience hopefully approach gender, and is part of the evolving conversations and definition of gender. CircaPop hosts Shira Lazar, Ryan Mitchell, and special guest — MooshWalks founder Olga Kay meet to discuss.

The trio discuss how this is a big step as Ines’ role as the November centerfold and about how it plays to the evolution of the definition of gender rules. They discuss how Hugh Hefner played to the evolution of gender norms when he was alive, and Ryan discusses how it opens up these ideas to a mostly hetero-normative audience. Shira points out that it allows men to look at a transgender woman without making a huge deal of it. It’s an exciting step forward, to be sure, and we are ready for it!
