Chick-fil-A is America's favorite fast-food chain, according to data from Foursquare and Business Insider.
The chain, famous for its chicken sandwiches, beat out competitors in all but 11 U.S. states. McDonald's was the runner-up, winning over North Dakota, Alaska and the District of Columbia. In-N-Out Burger and Popeye's tied for third, netting two states each.
Some state choices were more unique. Raising Cane's, best known for its chicken fingers, was the apparent favorite of Californians. Culver's won over Kansas. Oklahomans apparently prefer tacos to cheeseburgers, as Taco Bueno was found to be their favorite. White Castle also made an appearance by taking Nevada.
Of course, any study is only as good as its methodology, so how did Business Insider and Foursquare go about conducting theirs?
The results were based on "which chains received the most visits on average in every state based on the total number of visits to each chain divided by the number of locations in that state," according to BI's Megan Harney and Skye Gould.
The authors noted that Chick-fil-A's dominance shouldn't come as a surprise, considering it generates more revenue per restaurant than any of its competitors.
