Former President Obama hit the campaign trail in NJ

Former President Barack Obama is hitting the campaign trail. He is making his first post-presidential campaign trail appearance speaking at events for Democratic gubernatorial candidates in New Jersey and Virginia.

Obama is in Newark, New Jersey for a “canvass kickoff” event for Democratic candidate Phil Murphy.

Obama's second stop will be in Richmond, Virginia, for a rally with Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, who is in a tight race with former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie.

The elections in New Jersey and Virginia will take place Nov. 7.
