Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Sunday that diplomatic talks between the United States and North Korea will continue until "the first bomb drops."
In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Tillerson addressed President Donald Trump's tweet suggesting that Tillerson was wasting his time trying to negotiate with "Little Rocket Man,"referring to North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un.
...Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 1, 2017
Tillerson said that President Trump "has made it clear to me to continue my diplomatic efforts."
“He has made it clear to me to continue our diplomatic efforts – which we are. As I’ve told others, those diplomatic efforts will continue until the first bomb drops,” he said.
"I am fully committed to his objectives. I agree with his objectives,"Tillerson added.
Tillerson's comments come amid heightened tensions between the United States and North Korea after North Korea launced several missile tests.
