First lady Melania Trump on Monday derided her husband’s former wife after she jokingly used her title during an interview.
Ivana Trump quipped earlier Monday that she is “first lady” because she was President Trump’s first wife.
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the President,” Melania Trump’s communications director Stephanie Grisham said in a statement Monday, according to CNN.
“She loves living in Washington, D.C. and is honored by her role as first lady of the United States,” she added. “She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books.”
“There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. This is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise.”
Some Twitter users on Monday voiced amazement at the clash between President Trump’s current and first wives.
