People are going 'Over the Edge' for brain cancer

Updated October 06, 2017 02:22 PM EDT

A group of people are literally going over the edge of a building this weekend to support those suffering with brain cancer. A group will rappel down the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, Virginia on Saturday for the Over the Edge for Brain Cancer fundraiser.

Over the Edge for Brain Cancer

The 180-foot drop is supposed to give the jumpers a taste of the fear brain cancer patients feel during their battle to stay alive. That’s why they don’t require jumpers to have experience. What they do require, however, is that each participant raise at least $1,500 for the Accelerate Brain Cancer

Cure (ABC2). ABC2 has run the event for the past five years. San Diego will hold its 5th the Over the Edge event this year and Saturday’s event in Virginia will mark the second consecutive year its held in the D.C. area.

So far they’ve raised $800,000 for the cause.
