Country star Maren Morris dedicated her new song, "Dear Hate," to the victims of the Las Vegas massacre.

Morris says she wrote the song three years ago but the lyrics still ring true today.

"Dear Hate, I saw you on the news today/ Like a shock that takes my breath away/ You fall like rain, cover us in drops of paint/I'm afraid that we just might drown.”

She recorded the song last year with Vince Gill and says she wasn't sure when to release it and had been waiting for the "right time.

“I never knew when would be the right time, but I realized today that there’s never a right time," she wrote on Twitter. “Hate is everywhere, and I’m sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love and music. That’s what it’s here for.”

Morris announced Tuesday that the song will officially be released on Friday. She also said all the proceeds will be donated to the Music City Cares Fund.
