Comedian Kathy Griffin said Sunday that she was "proud of" ex-quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
“Your activism has come at a price but you haven’t backed down...not even once. Thank you for leading the way,” Griffin tweeted.
Griffin's tweet comes after more than 200 players kneeled or sat during the national anthem last Sunday after President Donald Trump lashed out at NFL players for not standing during the anthem on Twitter.
Very important that NFL players STAND tomorrow, and always, for the playing of our National Anthem. Respect our Flag and our Country!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
The comedian has been a vocal critic of the president. In May, Griffin faced criticism after TMZ released a photo of her posing with a replica of President Trump's head.
