Over ninety Dachshunds entered the Wiener 500 race in Washington, DC Saturday and it was glorious. Yes, you read that right. The Wiener 500 is an annual race and Oktoberfest celebration that includes a doggie costume contest and beer drinking contest for the humans.
The Wiener 500 is the most adorable competition of all time. It's like the Kentucky derby for city people who love tiny dogs.
The crowd was as hyped about the race as the dogs were about the snacks.
Today I met a contestant for a weiner dog race and really that's all I needed to make this the best weekend ever ❤— Bee Shifflett 🐢 (@beeshiff10) September 30, 2017
Since it's DC, even a wiener dog race isn't safe from being used for a political analogy.
Good call. Tax reform, like the weiner500, is a marathon, not a sprint.— Victor Fleischer (@vicfleischer) September 30, 2017
The race may be the main event, but the dog costume contest alone is worth the price of admission.
This hot dog is sizing up his competition.
Just here for the bratwurst and beer.
The things some pups will do for their human best friend.
The fashion major.
In jail for being too pretty.
Who cares if the package makes it on time? Look at that face!
