Beyoncé released a "Mi Gente" remix song to benefit Mexico And Puerto Rico

Beyonce announced on Thursday that the proceeds from her new remix of J Balvin and Willy William's song "Mi Gente" will go to Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

This is the singer's first single and music video since giving birth to twins in June.

"I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands," Beyonce wrote on Instagram.

Beyonce's donation comes as nearly 3.4 million people who live in Puerto Rico are struggling with no electricity and water.

After Hurricane Harvey struck cities in Texas, the Houston-born singer donated to relief efforts and encouraged her fans to do what they could to help.

"My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help," she said in an August statement to The Houston Chronicle.
