About 15 members of a church group in Oklahoma were driving home from an amusement park on Saturday when they saw an unexpected object on the side of the highway.

A baby in a car seat.

Highway baby 911 call
911 recording from Ada youth pastor Roger Prater on Sept. 23 after he discovered a weeks-old baby.

The Oklahoma City Police Department released audio placed by Pastor Roger Prater who was driving the van and first spotted the baby.

He told KOKH that he thought there was a doll in the carrier, but when she got out of the car she noticed the little boys feet were moving.

The one month old baby boy was taken to the hospital where doctors said he was in good health.

Officers found $5.500 cash, along with the boys social security card and birth certificate inside the car seat.

They used the documents to locate his mother and said she was taken to the hospital for evaluations.
Christy Hill told KFOR her daughter was part of the church group and was still in shock about the incident,

"Can you even imagine, This little guy could have died out there, I sure hope it was not done on purpose for that reason.”

Police said that no charges had been filed yet and the baby was released from the hospital and into thr custody of the Department of Human Services.

"We don't know why she did what she did," Sgt. Gary Knight told Fox. "But people do the strangest things sometimes. I don't recall seeing a case like this where a baby was just left on the shoulder of the highway. This could have had a very tragic ending."
