Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said one woman was shot and killed in the church parking lot before the gunman went into the church and opened fire. Two people are in critical condition after receiving gunshots to the chest, according to our affiliate WZTV.
The male gunman, who was described as a male in his 20s, turned the gun on himself but is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Other churchgoers, who were not injured, have been moved to a safe location.
One person was killed and multiple others were injured in a church shooting just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, according to police.
Don Aaron, the public affairs manager for the Nashville Metro Police Department said three women and three men, including the gunman, were taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
One victim who was pistol whipped and another person were taken to Skyline Medical Center.
Aaron said the gunman has been identified, but did not release a name.

On Twitter, fire officials described it as a "mass casualty situation."
The shooting happened inside Burnette Chapel Church of Christ on Pin Hook Road in Antioch at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Nashville fire department spokesman Joseph Pleasant told the Tennessean that six to eight wounded individuals were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The fire department said the shooter was among the wounded.
Fire officials said on Twitter that all except one of the wounded are over the age of 60.
The Metro Nashville Police Department is on the scene.
