The UN is urging countries to support refugees on the International Day of Peace

The United Nations and its 193 member states are celebrating the International Day of Peace on September 21. The annual holiday is meant to encourage people to come together, not only with their neighbors, but with people around the globe.

The theme of this year’s Day of Peace is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.” It puts a focus on anyone who was forced to flee from their home in search of better life. The U.N. is encouraging more countries to use the holiday to show support to refugees and migrants.

In New York, the Good Corporation is commemorating International Day of Peace by trying to create the largest human peace sign in Times Square. The will also hold a moment of silence for peace and reveal a special Peace Day Video featuring celebrities like Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Michael Douglas, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Stevie Wonder.
