A 94-year-old got quite the surprise by four members of a Florida police department, who were there on behalf of her granddaughter to make sure she was okay and prepared for Hurricane Irma.
Officers from the Clearwater Police Department stopped by 94-year-old Betty Helmuth's apartment after they received a Facebook message from her grandchild, Rachel Copeland. Police said Copeland was hoping they could share some recommendations on how to get ready for the hurricane.
Copeland said her grandma didn't drive, so the officers came to her with water, food, flashlights, and other storm necessities.
In a video posted on the police department's, Helmuth was ecstatic to see the officers and joked that her neighbors might think she was being arrested. She gave them thanks, hugs, and even called them heroes.
"We are glad we could be there in her time of need, to make sure she was safe and taken care of," the department said.
The post also stated the department checked up on her after the storm passed and that she made it out okay.
