President Trump approved a major disaster declaration for Florida

President Donald Trump has approved a major disaster declaration in the state of Florida on Sunday to people affected by Hurricane Irma.

The federal funding will assist affected individuals in the counties of Charlotte, Collier, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Pinellas, and Sarasota.

The funding will also assist efforts in emergencies in all 67 Florida counties.

President Trump told reporters on Sunday that Irma will cost “a lot of money” but he isn’t thinking about that right now.

"Right now, we’re worried about lives, not cost,” he said.

Nearly 6.3 million people were evacuated from Florida days before Hurricane Irma's storm surges and dangerous winds came down on the state.
