Massive lines at shelters in Florida as Hurricane Irma approaches


As hurricane Irma shifted overnight, many residents along western Florida were not expecting to have to evacuate Saturday, according to our affiliate SBG San Antonio.

Many Fort Myers residents are now being evacuated to the Germin arena near Estero, Florida.

The arena, which holds 8,000 quickly filled up with residents and pets. While people were waiting in line, some of the elderly fainted and were attended to by the medical crews on scene.

Extremely long lines at the Germain Arena shelter in Estero, FL. Many people say they came here after finding other shelters already full.
