Prince George arrived for his first day of school on Thursday, accompanied by his father, Prince William.
The Duchess of Cambridge, the former Kate Middleton -- pregnant with the couple's third child -- was unable to join them as she suffers from hyperemesis gravidarum, a more severe form of the morning sickness many women suffer during early pregnancy. Symptoms include extreme nausea and vomiting.
George, 4, held his father's hand as he entered Thomas's Battersea, a school in south London with tuition of $23,000 per year. The UK Good Schools Guide described Thomas's Battersea as "a big, busy, slightly chaotic school for cosmopolitan parents who want their children to have the best English education money can buy."
George wore a navy uniform for his first day of school. He shook hands with Helen Haslam, the head of the lower school, before walking in.
George has a younger sister, 2-year-old Princess Charlotte. The royal couple announced Tuesday that they are expecting their third child.
