ABC announced Thursday that race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. will be the next "Bachelor."
Luyendyk, 35, became a fan favorite during his 2012 stint on Emily Maynard's season of "The Bachelorette," when he was the runner-up. But he'll be the one handing out roses during season 22 of "The Bachelor."
"We've kept in touch over the last few years but this just fit perfect, the timing of this really fit," Luyendyk said Thursday on "Good Morning America."
"I was a little skeptical just because we've been in talks for a few years about doing it. But I just kind of went in with an open mind and an open heart and it kind of just hit me right now that I'm here."
Luyendyk is a two-time winner of the Indianapolis 500. He lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.
