Demonstrators gathered outside the Texas State Capitol in Austin Saturday to send a message to President Donald Trump just days before he's expected to make a decision on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).
DACA allows hundreds of thousands of young immigrants, who were brought to the United States illegally as children, to remain in the country. The program has given nearly 800,000 people amnesty from deportation.
In addition, the program has provided young immigrants the ability to work legally in the U.S. through two-year, renewable work permits.
DACA was created by the Obama administration in 2012 and Trump has until Sept. 5 to decide whether to dismantle the program.
