High school basketball player LaMelo Ball got his own signature shoe

LaMelo Ball, the younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers' rookie Lonzo Ball, has become the first high school student ever to have their own signature athletic shoe. "Big Baller Brand" tweeted out the announcement for the "Melo Ball 1" (MB1) sneaker on Thursday.

His father, LaVar Ball, told ESPN that he isn't concerned whether it will affect his son's college eligibility.

"We'll worry about it when we get there," Ball told ESPN. "Who cares? If he can't play, then he can't play. It doesn't mean he'll stop working out and getting better."

Ball, 16, attends Chino Hills High in California and has verbally committed to attend UCLA in two years.

The shoes are being sold at $395 on the Big Baller Brand website. They are currently available for pre-order and will ship in December.

Twitter users congratulated Ball on his signature shoe.
