I think you all remember this hit from 2015. Well, you must, because it's been viewed nearly 300MM times! Platten's double platinum hit, "Fight Song" has been featured in television shows like Revenge and Pretty Little Liars, it's been used in several advertisements and commercials, it was named the official theme song for the "Rise Above Cancer" campaign and if it doesn't sound familiar from any of those, you may remember it being frequently used by Hilary Clinton throughout her campaign for the 2016 presidential election.
But for some reason this powerful song never gets old, even Platten herself is not over it.
I'm so proud of it. I'm proud of what it did. I'm proud of what it's still doing.
Platten told us she is merely grateful for the hit song. And she definitely is passing her appreciation forward, getting permission from her publishing company to clear the song's usage gratis for any cause that is doing good in the world - any cause she really believes in.
How does Platten make these chart topping hits, you ask? Making an album is a little different than we all thought. The idea of waiting for the "muse" to show up is not exactly how it's done. Being thrown into a rigorous schedule filled with months worth of writing sessions with new writers is how it unfolds - the "muse" just shows up! Her biggest tip for getting ready for those writing sessions is to "open yourself up" and "don't start editing before the ideas come out."
One of her favorite collaborator's is Canadian producer and songwriter, Jon Levine, who has also produced massive hits for artists like Andy Grammar, Drake and Selena Gomez.
Platten's dream collaboration? Mark Ronson!
Hey Mark, give our girl Rachel a call would ya?
