Kendall Jenner will receive the Daily Front Row's award for Fashion Icon of the Decade at the Fashion Media Awards on Sept 8.
The 21-year-old has become a staple in pop culture and she, along with her family, gained notoriety for their reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
But some on social media have argued she doesn't deserve the honor, pointing out that she hasn't been modeling professionally for a decade.
"Literally giving Kendall Jenner a fashion icon of the decade award is insulting," one critic tweeted.

I love Kendall but why would she get fashion icon of the decade award when she was a child for half of it 🙂— jm (@asvpxjoyce) August 28, 2017
lol giving kendall jenner a fashion icon of the decade award when she's been in the industry for less than 5 years is insulting 🤷🏽♀️— son (@couIture) August 30, 2017
Others suggested Rihanna and Zendaya are more deserving of the award.
A spokesperson for Daily Front Row explained the decision to the Huffington Post saying, "We’re living in a digital decade and Kendall is the ultimate style influencer."
"A fashion icon is someone who influences the look of a generation and Kendall has been making a huge impact on their style."
Others including Mario Testino, Joanna Coles, Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner will also receive awards at the FMAs.
