Here we are again, back with another face mask.
There are many highly acclaimed 24k gold-infused face masks out there, including the $80 Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask, or if you’re willing, the $1,000 Adore Cosmetics Golden Touch Magnetic Facial Mask. For this video, we decided to go with a $20 gold-infused rubber mask from South Korean company Shangpree.
Our first impression of the mask was that a) it smelled wonderful and b) it definitely felt luxurious, especially with the gold flakes you could see in the mask mix. Using the product was simple: first, you pour a packet of “gold gel” into a small bowl that comes with the mask then mix in a packet of active collagen powder. We mixed it thoroughly and perhaps sat there mixing too much (and having too much fun with it, to be honest) because it solidifies fast. It doesn’t harden like clay would, but it does get more difficult to spread it smoothly across your face.
Pro tip: Timing is key. We made a mistake of not putting it on your face quickly enough – the package recommends spreading it over your face within 2-3 minutes after mixing is done. In the video, you’ll see how we sort of succeeded at doing this and sort of didn’t, but it’s safe to say the result was pretty similar. As you can see in the photo below, Ryan put on his mask before Nathalie, and you can see the clear difference how each mask stuck.
After taking off the mask, Nathalie and Ryan both felt like they achieved a similar result: Smooth, glowing and hydrated skin. To see long-term results, of course, you'll have to apply these masks pretty regularly over time, but even the initial results were pretty fantastic.
