The body of a missing pregnant woman was discovered by kayakers in North Dakota on Sunday evening, according to authorities.

Savanna Greywind, 22, was eight months pregnant when she went missing on Aug. 19.

Greywind's body was found wrapped in plastic in the Red River, which serves as the border between North Dakota and Minnesota, Fargo Police Chief David Todd said during a news conference.

Todd said authorities found suspicious items while searching a nearby farmstead, leading them to believe it may be a crime scene. He did not say whether there were any signs of trauma to the body.

Greywind's body was sent to the medical examiner in Minnesota's Ramsey County for an autopsy.

The search to find Greywind intensified Thursday when police found a newborn baby and arrested two suspects for kidnapping. The suspects indicated that the child belonged to Greywind, but would not answer questions about her whereabouts.

DNA testing is being conducted to determine whether the child is, in fact, Greywind's.

Greywind's neighbors Brooke Crews, 38, and William Hoehn, 32 were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and other counts on Monday.
