French President Macron spent $30,000 on makeup in first 100 days

French President Emmanuel Macron is embroiled into another controversy, but this time it's about makeup.

The magazine Le Point reported on Thursday that Macron has spent approximately $30,000 on makeup services in his first three months in office.

The president's representatives told CNN that the extravagant makeup bill was the result of an "emergency" situation and stated that makeup expenses will be reduced "significantly" next month.

François Asselineau, a former French Presidential runner, mocked Macron.

“The image of France once again humiliated. With his 26k€ of makeup per quarter, #Macron becomes the laughingstock of the entire planet.”

Macron's makeup scandal was compared to his predecessor's past haircut expenses. Former President François Hollande reportedly paid nearly $11,000 a month on haircuts.

People took to Twitter to voice their opinions about the news.
