A Snapchat post led to a sexual assault arrest

A Snapchat photo led to the arrest of a 24-year-old man in Gibbsboro, New Jersey on sexual assault charges earlier this month after police were alerted to a disturbing photo on his account, according to The Courier-Post.

Mason Mallon was charged on Aug. 19 with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, sexual assault, criminal restraint, and invasion of privacy, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

A woman allegedly appeared unconscious in Mallon's Snapchat post, prompting her friend to call the police, according to the prosecutor's office.

Officers responded to a home in the 100 block of West Clementon Road in Camden and found the victim disoriented, bruised and covered in blood there, according to police.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.

Mallon is being held in Camden County Jail.

Authorities say this wasn't Mallon's first run in with the law. The suspect was paroled in November 2015 after serving a one-to-three-year term for possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose, USA Today reported.

Mallon is due in court on Tuesday.
