Dog walkers in California are planning to protest a politically conservative free-speech rally on Saturday by leaving dog poop at San Francisco’s Crissy Field.
The Facebook event titled "Leave your dog poop on Crissy Field" encouraged dog walkers in the area to "leave a gift for our Alt-Right friends” at a public park located near the rally.
The creator of the Facebook page Tuffy Tuffington, a San Francisco artist, told The Washington Post that he wanted to find a way to push back. “My dogs were doing their business,” Tuffington said. “And I was struck with the image of a bunch of alt-right folks stomping around in a field of poop.”
Since Tuffington posted the Facebook event, more than one thousand people have said they will participate.
The “freedom rally,” led by Oregon-based Patriot Prayer, is expected to begin at 2 p.m. local time at the Golden State Bridge. 400 people are expected to attend according to the group's Facebook event. Joey Gibson, the leader of Patriot-Prayer, wrote on the Facebook event that they will not tolerate extremists or Nazis at the rally.
“No extremists will be allowed in. No Nazis, Communist, KKK, Antifa, white supremacist, I.E., or white nationalists. This is an opportunity for moderate americans to come in with opposing views. We will not allow the extremists to tear apart this country.”
Some Twitter users were not pleased with the poop idea.
Others think its a great idea.
