Dutch police detained the driver of a van filled with gas bottles after a concert by an American rock band was canceled Wednesday night following a "terror threat."
Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb said the driver of the van, which had Spanish license plates, is being questioned. Military explosives experts were deployed to Rotterdam to examine the van, police said.
Allah-Las, a band from Los Angeles, was scheduled to perform Wednesday night but the show was canceled after Dutch police received a terror warning from Spanish police. Aboutaleb did not give any further details on the nature of the threat received from Spanish police. Rotterdam police only said they took the tip from Spanish police seriously enough to cancel the event.
Last year, the American band told The Guardian that they chose the word Allah, which is the Arabic word for God, because they wanted a "holy sounding" name.
