Monday's total solar eclipse was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing; and so were the tweets it inspired.
People around the country took to the social media site to post jokes about the celestial event -- and they had us laughing.
Here are some of the funniest tweets about the solar eclipse:
WHEN THE MOON BLOCKS THE SUN
Twitter user @daM00n posted about blocking Twitter user @sun.
So did the official NASA account @NASAMoon (rough day to be the sun).
TWO KINDS OF ECLIPSES
Other Twitter users posted tweets poking fun at the fact that the celestial event shares a name with "Twilight" sequel, "Eclipse."
Not to spoil the eclipse for y'all but Bella chooses Edward lol— oovoo javer (@ziamalso) August 20, 2017
BLINDED BY THE LIGHT
Bruce Springsteen offered followers a friendly (and punny) reminder when he told them to "wear proper glasses" or else risk getting "blinded by the light" -- the title of one of the rock star's most popular songs.
Some of the best tweets were about a rivalry between the sun and moon as it was blocked out.
Twitter user @annetdonahue compared the eclipse to "Mean Girls" character Damian.
A SOLAR ATTACK
User @cbquist joked about not being able to look directly at the eclipse by warning against provoking a "solar attack."
During the eclipse, DO NOT look right at the sun. Make yourself look big, make noise, and back away slowly. Don't provoke a solar attack.— Charles Bergquist (@cbquist) August 21, 2017
NO GLASSES, NO PROBLEM
Other Twitter users also poked fun at warnings to avoid looking at the eclipse.
Of course, some of the funniest events on Twitter were the ones that... Actually happened.
There's a guy in this coffee shop who literally just said, "Did it start yet?" then walked outside, looked straight up, and screamed.— Robin Wasserman (@robinwasserman) August 21, 2017
