A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for throwing a cat into the path of an oncoming truck, according to Circa's affiliate KABB.

The horrifying crime happened last December off I-35 near Martin Street in San Antonio, Texas. Witnesses say Genaro Perales, 25, was walking near the access road when he saw the black and white cat named Sebastian. Perales picked up the cat and threw him under a passing truck, killing him.

Perales was arrested at the scene.

After an investigation, the charge against Perales was upgraded to a state jail felony because of previous unrelated convictions, resulting in the 8-year prison term.
