David Duke tweeted, thanking Trump for blaming the Charlottesville violence on the 'alt-left'

Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke tweeted, praising President Donald Trump for his "honesty and courage" following Tuesday's press conference.

"Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth about #Charlottesville & condemn the leftist terrorists in BLM/Antifa," Duke tweeted.

During the press conference, Trump doubled down on his statement that "both sides" were to blame for the violence that erupted Saturday during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“What about the alt-left that came charging at the — as you say, the alt-right?” Trump said.

Trump also took aim at left-wing anti-fascist protesters for showing up without a permit.

Duke previously tweeted, expressing his disappointment that the president condemned white supremacists groups on Monday.

"By criticising the Alt-Right & not naming BLM/Antifa you have given them the permission to destroy. The Red Terror begins," Duke tweeted.
