A Holocaust survivor and the world's oldest man has died at 113

Israeli media are reporting that the world's oldest man, who lived through both world wars and survived the Holocaust, has died at the age of 113--just one month shy of his 114th birthday.

On Saturday, Ynet quoted Kristal's daughter, who said that her father passed on Friday.

"He always saw only light and good in everything," she said.

Guinness World Records identified Kristal as the world's oldest man last year and presented him with a certificate.

The 113-year-old was born in Poland. During WWII, he was sent to Auschwitz and other Nazi concentration camps--the only member of his large Jewish family to survive. His first wife and two children were killed.

Kristal remarried and moved to Israel in 1950, where he had a family and built a confectionery business.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
