A newly-employed New Jersey security guard was fired on his first day after he allegedly stole $100,000 out of his company's armored truck, according to Fairfield Police Department.

Officials identified the suspect as 19-year-old Larry Brooks. He's accused of stealing the money last week.

The company, Garda, alleged that the theft was caught on its surveillance video system. Prior to contacting the Fairfield Police Department, security officers were able to recover most of the stolen cash -- $85,900 -- from a vehicle parked nearby.

Brooks was subsequently charged with second-degree theft, but was released on his own recognizance. The matter will be forwarded to the Essex County Prosecutor's office for prosecution.
