Macklemore is unhurt after his Mercedes was hit by a suspected DUI driver

Seattle rapper Macklemore is alive and uninjured after a suspected drunken driver in a pickup crashed head-on into his Mercedes in the Whidbey Island town of Langley in Washington state, our affiliate KOMO reports.

TMZ first reported the crash, which was later confirmed by the Washington State Patrol.

Trooper Heather Axtman said the suspected DUI driver was rounding a bend in a 1986 Chevy pickup at about 10:45 p.m. Friday when he veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into Macklemore's 2016 S-Class Mercedes.

The pickup driver, a 24-year-old man, sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and a blood sample was taken to check for intoxicants. He is likely to be charged with DUI, Axtman said.

Macklemore had two passengers in his car. TMZ reports one person was treated for a minor cut to the head, but all three walked away from the accident.

Macklemore, 34, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, has collaborated with producer Ryan Lewis to produce a number of hits. The duo's single "Thrift Shop" reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2013.
