Mexican authorities found 178 Central American migrants who were abandoned in a trailer in Veracruz state on Saturday.
Mexico's National Institute for Migration reported that the migrants were from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and were on their way to the United States.
Authorities told CNN that the migrants rescued are being housed in the nearby town of Tantima, nearly 400 miles away from the US-Mexico border included women and children.
Mexican authorities have not reported on their health conditions at this time.
The incident comes less than a week after 10 undocumented immigrants were found dead in an 18 wheeler truck. Authorities said they died from heat-related conditions and found the truck in a Walmart parking lot in San Antonio, Texas.
