A woman aboard a cruise ship died Tuesday after a domestic dispute in her cabin, while other passengers were entertained by a murder mystery dinner and thought the announcement was part of the performance, Inside Edition reported
Utah woman Kristy Manzanares, 39, was aboard The Emerald Princess celebrating 18 years of marriage with her husband Kenneth and three teenage daughters, but things took a turn for the worse when she was discovered to have "a severe head wound and blood was spread throughout the room," according to an FBI criminal complaint.
Manzanares' husband is now in custody after the FBI described the incident as a domestic dispute. After the incident he attempted to draf his wife's body to the balcony, and when a witness asked what happened said," She wouldn't stop laughing at me," the New York Daily News reported.
The fight was heard around 9:30 p.m. and was followed by an urgent announcement for the medical and security team.
The murder mystery dinner was going on at the same time, and passenger Vic Simpson told Inside Edition, "Because they were doing a murder mystery theater about a death on a cruise ship most people thought it was just part of the dramatic effect of what they were doing."
The cruise took off from Seattle and was headed to Alaska. After the incident, it diverted to Juneau, Alaska and was put on lockdown while the FBI investigated.
Princess Cruises confirmed that there was a dispute that resulted in a woman's death in a statement to Inside Edition.
