Mermaid highlighters, rainbow highlighters and other types of pearly tinted highlighters have been trendy for awhile now, but why pay more than $30 for a palette when you can easily make your own?

Here is what you'll need:

  • Eye shadow palettes with colors you'd want
  • Bronzer and blush palettes
  • Translucent or shimmery powder
  • Rubbing alcohol

First, break apart the colors of the pressed eye shadow powder into a plate or a bowl and mix them together. Then mix in three or four drops of rubbing alcohol and translucent powder and mix everything together.

Pour the liquid out and let it dry for 5 to 6 minutes.

Get an empty compact and pack the colors into patterns you want.

Once powder is in the compact, put a paper towel over it and gently pack it in flat. Let it dry for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Then try swatches of your new highlighter on your coworkers.
